A bit about me
I’m John Govier - JG - a web creator based in South West England. I’ve spent many years working across digital, creative, hospitality, broadcasting, marketing and communications roles.
JG Multimedia originally started as a side project while I was in full-time employment. Over time, and through a lot of hands-on experience, it became clear that the work I enjoyed most was helping people get a clear, professional presence online, without overcomplicating things.
That’s now my main focus as "JG Website Creation", and because I spent many years in broadcasting, I can help you tell your story in a compelling way. We'll work together to decide the content and make the words and pictures fit the feel of the site.
Many other web-builders just piece together the content you are expected to provide, like building a jig-saw puzzle, but I'm happy to work with you to take those often jumbled thoughts and ideas and mould them into something that really works.

My background
Before focusing on web design, I worked across broadcasting, hospitality and marketing roles, including time as a producer and broadcaster at BBC Radio Devon, a hotel manager, a publican and more recently as Head of Marketing and Communications for a large organisation.
Along the way, I helped build the original BBC Devon website, was one of the founders of the Devon flag, have been spent years working in hospitality and I've headed up a team which rebranded a large company, and consolidated their over-complicated website from nine sites into one.
I've been both employed and self-employed so I understand how organisations communicate and the day-to-day realities of running a business.
That mix of experience means I’m comfortable explaining ideas clearly, thinking about how people actually use websites, and keeping things practical rather than over-engineered.
Experience without the agency feel
I’ve worked in and around digital projects for a long time, which means I understand both the creative and practical sides of building websites.
What I don’t offer is an agency experience; no layers of account managers, no unnecessary upselling, no jargon.
When you work with me, you’re dealing directly with the person building your site.
That keeps things clear, efficient, and personal.
How I work
I take a straightforward, collaborative approach.
I’ll ask questions, listen carefully, and help you work out what you actually need - not what you think you should have.
For many small businesses and individuals, that’s a simple, well-designed brochure website that explains who you are, what you do, and how people can get in touch.
I handle the technical side, explain things in plain English, and guide you through each step so you always know what’s happening.
There will be opportunities to create video content if it's required, and then when the site goes live, we'll sit down over a coffee and I'll show you how you can easily make minor updates and additions so you're not just left to figure it out for yourself.
Who is this for?
I’m a good fit for people who:
- Want a professional website but don’t need anything complicated
- Want some help unjumbling their thoughts and ideas
- Value clear communication and honest advice
- Prefer dealing with one person rather than a large agency
- Want a site they can be proud of, without it becoming a burden
If that sounds like you, we’ll probably get on well.
A final word
Getting a website built doesn’t need to be daunting.
My aim is to make the process feel calm, straightforward and positive - and to deliver a site that does exactly what you need it to do.
If you’d like to talk through an idea or ask a few questions, you’re very welcome to get in touch. Let's talk!
